CA Federation President, Gary Bradford
Well a new year is upon us and it’s time to get out and start fishing again. We have a full tournament schedule set up for 2003 with 35 qualifying tournaments in 7 regions. Please take a look at our updated Tournament Rules for 2003. We have made some changes that you need to be aware of.
I would like to remind all of you at this time of the many benefits that being a member of the California B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation brings to you club and to you as an individual member:
1 million dollars in liability insurance for your club and no extra charge for Open Tournaments
$9,500 A.D.& D. policy on every member good 365 days a year
Bassmaster Magazine, B.A.S.S. Times Magazine and access to our website for your club news and contacts
Membership in the largest national organization that represents bass anglers.
Priority draws for Citgo B.A.S.S. Open and Tour tournaments on the Amateur side (every other angler drawn will be drawn from a Federation pool)
The only chance to qualify for the Bassmasters Classic other than the Citgo Opens and Tour. (1 Federation angler from each of the 5 Divisions qualifies for the Classic)
Access to the B.A.S.S. CastingKids program, which provides competition and scholarships to children ages 7 – 14. (last year our California Champion Gregory Gutierrez also won the Western Division Championship and finished in 3rd place Nationally)
Access to the B.A.S.S. Conservation programs to assist you with your own clubs efforts and projects.
As you can see the Federation is not just an insurance program. It is a membership in a state and national organization that goes to bat for bass anglers and outdoorsmen worldwide. We have been involved with many of the issues that face our anglers here in California and we will continue to stay active.
In 2003 our “State Classic” will return to the Delta and the anglers that make to State Team there will go on to the Division Championships. There is a strong possibility that the Federation National Championships will be held in California in the near future.
If you and your club are already member of the Federation thanks for your participation and support. If you and your club are not, give us a try. The applications are available right here on our website.
Good Fishing in 2003.
