CA Federation President, Gary Bradford
This may not seem like a big deal to many of you up north and in fact it may pose an imposition to those of you who are traveling down here to compete.Ã, But what is shows to all of the anglers in our state and to the rest of the Federations is that we are truly a federation that represents all of the anglers of California.Ã, This has been my goal since I became involved with the organization.
As you can see we have finally revamped our web page and I would like to thank our new webmaster Brian Day, who is also the President of the South Orange County Bassmasters, for doing an outstanding job.
I would also like to thank Dean Sault for his efforts on behalf of the web page. This web site is the best means of communication that our federation has and Brian will be staying on top of things and keeping it current. I encourage all of you to email us and let us know what we can do to make it a better experience for you and your clubs. If your club has a website and we do not already have it listed, please send the information to Brian so that he can add it to our site.
The past two years have been difficult for the CBCF because of our ongoing lawsuit with our former Secretary/Treasurer Charles McNees. I am happy to report that we have settled with Mr. McNees’ insurance company, without Mr. McNees’ cooperation, and that we have that experience behind us.Ã, The amount that we settled for was far less than the CBCF monies that he is holding and the lawyer fees that we incurred. Mr. McNees still has those funds in his possession and throughout this ordeal he has stated that those funds would be returned to the state team anglers and clubs of the Federation. To this date I know of no one or no club who has received any monies. Here is a copy of the letter that our attorney sent to Mr. McNees at the conclusion of the suit.
On a better note we are moving forward and the future for the CBCF looks bright.Ã, We will be holding qualifying tournaments in seven regions again next year,Ã, see the 2003 tournament schedule, and the State Classic will be returning to the Delta. I am going to be attending a meeting in Montgomery November 4th through to 6th, in my capacity as the Western Division Representative, and will be meeting with B.A.S.S. management and tournament staff.Ã, I am hoping to bring back news on the return of the B.A.S.S. Western Opens.Ã, You have all recently received a packet from B.A.S.S. that will allow you to sell B.A.S.S. memberships, to persons who have not been a member for at least two years, for $10 and your club will receive a $6 rebate for each one you sell. B.A.S.S. and ESPN are looking to expand B.A.S.S. and Federation membership and this is a positive step in the road to doing that. Ranger Cup monies are going to be presented at the State Classic starting with the San Vicente Tournament.
Thank you and lets continue to build the CBCF,
Gary
