Minutes of the Board of Directors
California Bass Chapter Federation
September 4th. 2003

Conference call
The following Directors were present:
Ben Willis, Kelly Steele, Archie Steele, Sal Gervasi, Gary Bradford, Bruce Carperter, Tony Thomasy, Bob Monson, Paul Owen, Scott Harvey, Brian Day, Larry Wilson & Craig Eller.
The following guests were present:
John Miller
The Minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted with no changes.
The Treasurers report was read and accepted with no changes.
Old Business
1) Conservation Report: Bob has written a letter addressing the closure of CastaicLake. Bob also stated that with the 15% budget cut there could be more lake closures.
2) Youth Report: Sal attended the Bass Federation finals in Tuscaloosa Al. where he attended meetings with the other youth directors from around the country. Bass wants to start a national youth championship. These will be run much the same way Bass does the Adult circuit. Starting on the local level and making a state team and so on. We are in the process of singing up the first club in the state.
3) Web Page: Brian Day was honored with an award at the Federation Finals for his work on our web page. Brian encourages people to sign up for e-mail updates. Also T.Ds. need to make sure that the pictures they send into Brian from tournaments have the sponsor signs with all sponsors visible.
New Business
1) Growing pains: The Federation and ESPN are working out there differences with sponsorships and other issues. The biggest problem seems to be with communication. Hopefully they wii be able to work all of there issues out.
2) Sponsor updates:Ã, All Star rods will be our new rod sponsor Eagle claw is gone however Mustad might be coming in. Plano is now on board.
3) State Classic: T-Shirts have been ordered, Archie needs all qualifying anglers addresses from the T.Ds. The Trophies have been ordered and the Angler of the Year awards will also be ordered.
4) Tournament Schedules: All dates for 2004 have been applied for and permits received from the DFG. Paul Owen will bring the Golden Empire region into the Federation for 2004. Starting in 2004 all T.Ds. will be required to sign a contract with the Federation as to how tournaments will be run and the time frame to make deposits and results submitted for posting .There was a motion to make the minimum of 12 anglers to run a tournament, that motion was passed.
5) Region 7: We experienced many problems with the way that region was run this year. We will have a new director for that region next year.
6) Ghost Clubs: The Board discussed the proper procedures for starting and running a ghost club.
7) The next Meeting of the Board will be at Ladd’s landing at 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 24th.
